Landys Roimola

Landys Roimola (1992, Bogota) creates socially committed art and sees the waste as an interesting material with a history. Waste is also a personal thing for everyone on different levels. With her art, Roimola transforms worthless and problematic waste into artwork that leads the audience to another world where the big pieces of art intimidate the observer. At the same time the sculptures are still relatable, strange and beautiful – like misunderstood creatures that have been pulled from another universe. Dominated by the material, and with some unexpected results along the way, the waste gets a new life in Roimola’s hands.

Landys’ art is based on observations and examination of materials, society, and challenges that the human-caused global warming brings. In her opinion, the role of an artist is to inspire and encourage people in the face of major global problems.
